Barcelona Ready for Historic Fixture at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday
The club confirmed their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league 30 months following their departure so building work could begin.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees are permitted inside based on approved permits. Once fully finished, the Camp Nou is due to hold almost 105,000 spectators, up from the previous 99,000. Barça announced recent additions comprise a new players’ tunnel along with upgraded changing facilities.
Preparatory Events
The club conducted an open training session on the home pitch earlier this month. Officials stated approval is being pursued from Uefa to play their next home Champions League game versus the German side next month at the stadium. Their recent games have been held in the temporary ground.
