Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in communication with the league office.

The team did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Posted on Instagram

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
