Performer Rejects Anti-Vax Stance Following Narrating Controversial Covid Film
The acclaimed actor has lent his narration to a recent film that questions the efficacy of vaccines and commends former government figure RFK Jr.
The Feature's Disputed Origins
Named "Plague of Corruption," the film is inspired by a well-known publication co-authored by Judy Mikovits, who became famous during the global outbreak for assertions that the illness was linked to a problematic version of the flu vaccine.
The publication's co-author, the executive producer, has penned books with far-right media personality the Infowars host. He wrote online hailing Neeson's involvement in the documentary.
A Strong Denial
Representatives for Liam Neeson have released a statement firmly refuting suggestions that he subscribes to anti-vaccine sentiments.
"Everyone can understand that unethical practices may occur within the drug industry, but that must not be equated to being against vaccines," the statement explains. "Neeson is not, and cannot be described as, against vaccines. His extensive work with the UN children's agency highlights his long-held support for global immunisation initiatives."
It continued that the star had no hand in the documentary's editorial content and that inquiries about its claims ought to go to the filmmakers.
Major Claims Within the Feature
According to the documentary, the script spoken by Neeson includes several provocative statements:
- It claims that pro-immunization voices have called for "complete compliance" to public institutions.
- It declares that "research has become dangerously politicized."
- Kennedy is shown claiming, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they are not adequately tested."
- It also criticizes pandemic restrictions, arguing they caused psychological harm that cost thousands of lives.
- Regarding Covid vaccines, it cites a perspective that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "risky trials."
Historical Background and Current Debates
It also references a past television report about AIDS medication trials on children, which was afterwards the topic of a BBC apology by the network for violations of guidelines.
Recently, the political figure instructed the national health agency to change its longstanding position that there is no causal relationship between immunizations and autism. This supposed link is echoed in the film, despite a new report from the global health body reiterating no connection has been found.
A Past Record of Endorsement
Contrasting the documentary's narrative, Neeson has previously shown firm endorsement for vaccines in his position as a charity ambassador.
In 2022, he referred to vaccines as "an incredible human success story," adding that "The conversation about vaccines in the past few years has lost sight of how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in history."
The film finishes with Neeson's script stating, "This marks not the end of our narrative. It is the beginning of a fresh chapter."
