President Trump Calls Relatives of Injured Military Personnel to the Presidential Residence

Former President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a Guard member killed last week to visit the presidential home.

He noted that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Information on the Tragic Event

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.

Vigils across the state have occurred in their remembrance.

Presidential Call

The president said he’s discussed a White House visit for the families of both members of the state National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump told reporters. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community Support

Attendees assembled over the weekend at the high school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s national effort to aid policing efforts in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“She was the kind of student that educators hoped for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a positive energy that encouraged those around her,” the principal, the head of her alma mater, told the Associated Press. “She was kind, caring and always willing to assist people.”

Service plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Steps and Policy Adjustments

Officials have charged a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The event caused the Trump administration to halt asylum processing and cease providing entry permits to owners of travel documents.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

The airman, a native of the city, began his service in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, according to the Associated Press.

He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor Morrisey said on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi told the program that she aimed to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with distinction, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had courage,” the governor informed the audience at the memorial. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
