The Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Matchup Versus the Dodgers
The outfielder contributed to the Astros winning the championship in the 2017 season.
Canada's MLB team reached their first World Series since 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the final seventh game of the ALCS.
Trailing three runs to one, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run blast in the seventh, leading the Toronto squad in MLB to a 4-3 triumph in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, the team that is the current crown, in the upcoming World Series.
"I'm thrilled for this squad, the city, Canada," Springer stated, a star of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "This is such an incredible feeling."
George Springer has now slugged 23 October home runs, making him third all-time after Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).
"It's hard to imagine another player anywhere that I'd prefer in that spot besides him with his October magic," remarked manager John Schneider.
Seattle, despite leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the sole team yet to make an appearance in a championship series.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "without a doubt that it's painful" after his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their work in the campaign.
"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we ended up on the wrong side of this game," he continued.
Toronto won the World Series on their two prior appearances in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the opener on this Friday.
