The top legal official in Texas Paxton is filing a lawsuit against the producers of Tylenol, asserting the firms concealed alleged dangers that the drug posed to pediatric cognitive development.

This legal action follows four weeks after President Donald Trump advocated an unverified association between consuming Tylenol - also known as acetaminophen - while pregnant and autism spectrum disorder in young ones.

The attorney general is taking legal action against J&J, which once produced the drug, the only pain reliever suggested for expectant mothers, and Kenvue, which presently makes it.

In a official comment, he said they "deceived the public by gaining financially from pain and marketing drugs regardless of the dangers."

The company states there is lacking scientific proof linking acetaminophen to autism spectrum disorder.

"These manufacturers misled for generations, intentionally threatening countless individuals to boost earnings," the attorney general, from the Republican party, stated.

Kenvue stated officially that it was "seriously troubled by the dissemination of inaccurate information on the security of acetaminophen and the likely effects that could have on the well-being of US mothers and children."

On its official site, Kenvue also stated it had "regularly reviewed the applicable studies and there is no credible data that indicates a proven link between consuming paracetamol and autism spectrum disorder."

Organizations representing physicians and medical practitioners concur.

ACOG has said paracetamol - the key substance in Tylenol - is among limited choices for expectant mothers to manage pain and elevated temperature, which can create serious health risks if ignored.

"In multiple decades of investigation on the use of paracetamol in pregnancy, not a single reputable study has conclusively proven that the use of paracetamol in any trimester of gestation leads to neurodevelopmental disorders in children," the group said.

The court filing cites latest statements from the Trump administration in claiming the medication is potentially dangerous.

Recently, the former president generated worry from medical authorities when he told expectant mothers to "fight like hell" not to take Tylenol when sick.

Federal regulators then issued a notice that medical professionals should consider limiting the consumption of Tylenol, while also stating that "a causal relationship" between the drug and autism spectrum disorder in young ones has remains unverified.

Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr, who oversees the Food and Drug Administration, had promised in April to undertake "a massive testing and research effort" that would determine the cause of autism in a matter of months.

But specialists advised that discovering a single cause of autism - considered by experts to be the outcome of a complicated interplay of genetic and external influences - would not be simple.

Autism is a type of enduring cognitive variation and disability that impacts how people experience and relate to the world, and is identified using physician assessments.

In his lawsuit, Paxton - aligned with the former president who is campaigning for the Senate - asserts Kenvue and Johnson & Johnson "intentionally overlooked and attempted to silence the research" around acetaminophen and autism spectrum disorder.

The case attempts to require the companies "eliminate any promotional materials" that claims Tylenol is safe for women during pregnancy.

This legal action mirrors the concerns of a assembly of parents of minors with autism spectrum disorder and ADHD who took legal action against the makers of acetaminophen in recently.

The court dismissed the legal action, declaring investigations from the family's specialists was lacking definitive proof.
